FNP Clinical Specialist – INTUNE HRSA Traineeship Grant (Full-time, employed by The University of Texas at Tyler).

Position Description/Responsibilities:

Position of the Clinical Family Nurse Practitioner –Clinical Specialist is one of facilitating FNP students’ clinical advanced practice education in a diverse, rural, underserved setting through facilitating both didactic and clinical.  The Clinical FNP Faculty must facilitate maximum learning and frequent evaluation of students and provide hands-on training and feedback to ensure assigned students’ clinical competence, while coordinating these efforts with UT Tyler FNP Course Faculty and Clinic Leadership.

Job duties include, but are not limited to: coordinate with the INTUNE HRSA Traineeship Project Director, Grant Coordinator, and UT Tyler FNP Director; facilitate development of course content and clinical experiences; and assist with online classes.  Assist the Project Director with development of a network of medical houses for underserved individuals in rural areas in East Texas in which FNP students participate as part of their clinical training. Assist students with all aspects of patient management, including assessment, testing and interpretation, diagnosis, treatment planning, prescribing, evaluation, documentation, and referral as needed. Evaluate and provide feedback to students. Provide case management services for select clients.  Facilitate group, individual and community education. Provide in-service education to nursing/office staff. Attend faculty retreats and meetings as specified by the Program Director.  Participate in rapid-cycle quality improvement process, as directed by Project Director.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in nursing, doctorate preferred; completion of a state acceptable Nurse Practitioner’s program; a minimum of one year’s experience is desirable. National certification in specialty is required. Experience precepting students, preferred. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred. Experience in online graduate education preferred.

Necessary special requirements: Licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse; certified by the State of Texas as a Family Nurse Practitioner; Prescriptive privileges; DEA.

Salary is commensurate with skills and abilities. This position is grant funded and may be eliminated at the end of the grant cycle depending on availability of future grant monies.

Travel: Local area travel may be required.
